What does it mean to exfoliate?

The key to a healthy and beautiful glow is exfoliation.

Exfoliation is a process where dead skin cells are removed from the surface of the skin, resulting in fresher and more radiant skin.

An exfoliation routine can help prevent pores from becoming clogged, thus reducing the risk of acne and blemish-prone skin. When dead skin cells accumulate on the surface of the skin, it can block the pores and cause an increased production of oil, which can lead to pimples.

Which exfoliation should you use?

There are two types of exfoliation.

The first is chemical exfoliation, which uses acids such as glycol or salicylic to break down the glue between the dead skin cells and thus release them from the skin. This is a gentle method that everyone, regardless of skin type, can use. Chemical exfoliation can also reduce fine lines, wrinkles and uneven pigmentation, as well as fight acne and blemishes. Try e.g. one of our Korean exfoliants that contain AHA, BHA or PHA.

The second type is physical exfoliation, which involves using a scrub or peeling gel. These contain small particles that remove dead skin cells when you massage them into the skin. This is a more invasive method that is ideal for skin types that are oily or combination as it can help reduce excess oil and clogged pores. However, it can cause irritation or damage to some skin types, so it must be used carefully.

Regardless of the type of exfoliation method you want to use, it is important to choose the right products after an exfoliation. Therefore, remember to choose a facial toner or cleanser that suits your skin type and that does not contain harmful chemicals. It is recommended to use a mild Korean facial scrub in your exfoliation routine to maintain healthy and radiant skin.
