What causes oily skin?
One of the most common causes of oily skin is an overproduction of sebum, which is an oily substance. Sebum is produced in the sebaceous glands of the skin, and is important for protecting and moisturizing the skin, but when production becomes too high, it can lead to oily skin and clogged pores.
How do I get rid of oily skin?
A good way to combat oily skin is to use facial products with ingredients that help regulate sebum production and therefore remove the excess oil.
You can e.g. preferably use face masks, which often have clay as an ingredient, as the clay absorbs the excess oil and cleans the pores.
AHA and BHA are two types of chemical exfoliating ingredients that can help you remove dead skin cells and excess oil from your skin.
Also, vitamin C, which is an antioxidant, can help you reduce inflammation and protect your skin from free radicals.
Finally, we have an ingredient like retinol, which can help regulate sebum production and reduce oily skin.
Although it may sound strange, an oil-based facial cleanser can actually also help you remove the excess oil without drying out the skin.
